Blog: Advice

If I were hired by Baruch College to improve the college, I would first work on stabilizing and expanding the WiFi network. In most cases, the WiFi is unavailable to be connected, even if connected the WiFi does not work, or simply there is no WiFi. Baruch needs to work on having more than one WiFi option as thousands of students and staff are attempting to use one network. Another suggestion I would make would be to make all information easily accessible. Though Baruch currently uses various web pages for their departments, users are required to click into multiple pages to finally find what they need. For example, when looking for a specific form, users would know to look for it under "Forms" instead of browsing all over the web to not find it (something I have experienced various times). Baruch also lacks a platform for all students and staff to get into contact. Though classes meet mostly twice a week, students do not get into contact with each other. In the case of missing a class or needing clarification, a platform where users can find others in the same class would be beneficial. Similarly on this platform, users could share links or resources that would be helpful to others. Baruch needs to provide stable resources for students and faculty members for the school to work smoothly.

  1. I think this is a great idea. More often than not, I'm connected to Baruch's WiFi without actually being connected and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who experiences this. With a school this big and some many students using it at once, it would be important for Baruch to make its internet connection better for our own devices instead of flipping a coin, hoping that the WiFi would work.
